PAVE Presents the 2016 Rising Star Award at 2016 PAVE Gala


Hollywood, Fla. (Dec. 13, 2016)--The Planning and Visual Education Partnership (PAVE) presented its 2016 Rising Star Award to Kate Kyung-Ha Lee, Senior Designer, CallisonRTKL. The award presentation took place during the 20th Annual PAVE Gala on Wednesday, Dec. 7, in Brooklyn.

“Winning the Rising Star Award is truly an honor. It means a great deal to me to be recognized for doing what I love, what I am passionate about. As Yves Saint Laurent once said, 'Style enriches, develops, fortifies,' and that is exactly how I feel about this acknowledgement of my work. It adds confidence and propels me to continue expanding my creativity and professional growth.“ said Lee.

Finalists Liz Baverman, Senior Designer, FRCH and Beta Hsu, Senior Designer, CallisonRTKL were also recognized at the event.

Judging the 2016 Rising Star Award competition were:

Jeffrey Hutchison, Owner, Jeffrey Hutchison & Associates
Nancy Jackson, President, Architectural Systems Inc.
Brad Somberg, President, B+N Industries

For this award, retailers, designers and industry suppliers were invited to nominate an individual working in retail design, visual presentation, or contract design who is a proven innovator and leader among peers. Nominees were 40 years of age or younger.


About PAVE, Founded in 1992, the Planning and Visual Education Partnership's (PAVE) objective is to encourage students to study in the field of retail design and planning and visual merchandising. Additionally, PAVE seeks to encourage retail management, store planners, visual merchandisers, architects, and manufacturers to interact with and support design students. These objectives are accomplished through competitions, projects, seminars, workshops, and grants and scholarships funded by the annual Gala and other fundraising activities. PAVE is a 501(c)(3) educational foundation.
