Hollywood, Fla. (March 28, 2023)— For eight years, PAVE Global has had the privilege of partnering with the creative, connected, and curious design collaborative Bergmeyer to support college-level Interior Design, Industrial Design, Architecture, and Graphic Design students through a $1,500 scholarship as well as an opportunity to take part in an immersive mentorship experience with some of the industry's top designers at Bergmeyer in Boston, Massachusetts.
“In collaboration with PAVE, Bergmeyer would like to congratulate Parker Blessing from Florida State University as the recipient of the 2023 Bergmeyer Scholarship and Mentorship Experience. We extend our appreciation to all of the talented design students from colleges and universities across the United States and Canada who submitted applications to the eighth annual Bergmeyer Scholarship with PAVE. Bergmeyer would like to recognize Parker, in particular, for the sensitivity and intent of their design work which conveys an authentic concern for the user, providing a customer journey complete with distinctive and meaningful experiences,” said Rachel Zsembery, Bergmeyer's President.
Applicants were asked to provide a written response to 2 questions- "1. What brands or experiences do you gravitate to, and why? With consideration towards the physical and digital dimension of the engagement", and "2. What brands and experiences do you think are ripe for reinvention? Why? What would you do to improve them?" Students were also asked to provide a project folio highlighting their retail, restaurant, or hospitality-related projects. The quality and talent of the applications were awe-inspiring, and the team found the final decision to be challenging as several standout entries showcased a plethora of design skills and knowledge.
In an excerpt from her letter of recommendation, Jill Pable, Ph.D., FIDEC, CIDQ, WELL AP, Professor, and Chair of Florida State University’s College of Fine Arts, Department of Interior Architecture and Design had this to say, "Ms. Blessing is a capable designer, bringing to bear computer-aided visioning tools alongside her ability to conduct programming research, conceive and consider concepts, and attack a design challenge from its core to derive effective and beautiful solutions." She continued, saying “In short, Ms. Blessing was one to watch as she moves through her studies into applied practice.”
In the spirit of connecting students to the industry, once again Bergmeyer has graciously opened their doors and extended an invitation to all of the applicants to reach out if they are ever in the Boston, Columbus, or Los Angeles areas for a hosted tour of the Bergmeyer studios to see how they work, meet some of the design team, and to get to know each other.
The PAVE Scholarship Program, now in its thirteenth year, provides financial assistance to students in educational programs preparing them for careers related to the design and creation of consumer environments, including but not limited to careers in retail design, hospitality design, healthcare design, visual merchandising, interior design, architecture, product design, UX design, graphic design, and industrial design.
PAVE was developed to help ensure a future talent pool for the industry by eliminating barriers to studying in these fields. The funds assist students who may be experiencing financial difficulties that would prevent them from continuing school. PAVE has awarded students over $242,00 in financial aid grants and scholarships in the past five years.
