PAVE Global is thrilled to announce the winners of its 2024 T-Shirt Design Challenge, sponsored by Studio Lourdes. The competition challenged design students to explore the theme "PAVE CONNECTS" through creative t-shirt designs that celebrate the interconnectedness of the design community. The winner of each category receives a $1,000 cash prize.
Judge's Choice Winner
Jada Cannon from Cornell University was selected by the PAVE Board of Directors and Studio Lourdes team for her design "'P' Stands for Part of Something Bigger." As a PAVE scholarship recipient, Cannon's design reflects her personal connection to the organization's mission. Her artist statement reveals the deeper meaning behind her work:
"'P' Stands for Part of Something Bigger' is a design close to my heart as a recipient of multiple accolades from PAVE. This design is born out of a deep belief in the power of connection and collaboration throughout infrastructural industries. The shapes and colors represent the diversity of ideas, different perspectives, and unique talents that each of us brings to the table. The letter 'P' serves as a reminder that our individual contributions, no matter how small, are integral to building something meaningful."
People's Choice Winner
After five rounds of community voting on Instagram, Reyyan Bagdat from Sheridan College emerged as the People's Choice winner. Bagdat's gear-inspired design represents the collaborative spirit of the design community:
"The design abstractly forms the shape of a gear, depicting a round table where individuals from different backgrounds come together to create meaningful connections. This symbolizes the synergy between designers and partners, showing how they move and produce together like a well-oiled machine. The puzzle at the center of the table embodies the idea that great outcomes are achieved when people bring their unique pieces to the table."
Support Future Design Leaders
Both winning designs will be featured as commemorative shirts for the 2024 PAVE Gala and are available for purchase in the PAVE Global online gift shop. All proceeds will support PAVE's initiative to double its Student Aid Fund from $15,000 to $30,000 in 2025.
